AMRITSAR: The Kotwali police arrested a Delhi couple, who used to steal belongings of devotees coming to pay obeisance at Golden Temple, here on Wednesday.



Amritsar, June 20

The Kotwali police arrested a Delhi couple, who used to steal belongings of devotees coming to pay obeisance at Golden Temple, here on Wednesday.

The accused are said to have been indulged in such activities at famous tourist places in Agra, Delhi and other religious places. They have been identified as Rajvir and his wife Sangeeta of Sonia Vihar, Delhi.

The police have seized around Rs 80,000 from them.

According to the police, the couple used to come to the holy city once in a month and returned after stealing valuables and cash from the devotees and tourists. They have been arrested for the first time.

A case under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC has been registered. — TNS
