Complaint boxes must at schools

AMRITSAR: Following the orders of the education board, the district authorities have asked the city schools to take adequate measures to ensure safety of girl students.

Following the orders of the education board, the district authorities have asked the city schools to take adequate measures to ensure safety of girl students.

The schools have been asked to maintain a complaint box through which girl students can raise their issues. The orders are to be followed by the government, private and aided schools in the district.

Post summer vacations, the girl students will be made aware of good and bad touch by experts or representatives of the civil society from a non-government organisation or social activists.

District Education Officer (DEO) Sunita Kiran said, “I have communicated the orders to the school heads. They have to make sure that girls at their institutions feel protected with their issues resolved.”

The school authorities have also informed the students about cyber crimes and its types. The district education authorities have also been asked to seek reports from the schools regarding any kind of crime against students.

“Teachers have to perform their duties. They are close to students so they must act quickly,” she added.
