Amritsar, March 25

The Class IV Workers’ Union under the leadership of the Punjab Subordinate Services Federation, TB Hospital, staged a protest here today and raised slogans against senior officials.

Association leaders claimed that Class IV employees like ‘safai sevaks’ and ‘chowkidars’ were not being provided with the equipment they needed to perform their services. They said they should be given brooms and clothes for cleaning the floor on time and watchmen should be provided with sticks and torches to perform their duties effectively.

The employees said gardeners also needed new machines for cutting grass. They claimed that senior officials often ignored their demands and were held responsible for not doing their work properly.

Association president Gurdeep Singh said, “Employees need such equipment for performing their duties. They cannot purchase these from their salaries.”

He said they had also demanded a cashless insurance scheme and recruitment on vacant posts amidst other demands for which a memorandum had been submitted with the hospital authorities.
