Birmingham flight starts tomorrow

AMRITSAR: The maiden direct flight between Amritsar and Birmingham will take off on February 20. MP Rajya Sabha Shwait Malik and Union Minister of State and BJP state president Vijay Sampla will inaugurate the flight at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar.

Amritsar, February 18

The maiden direct flight between Amritsar and Birmingham will take off on February 20. MP Rajya Sabha Shwait Malik and Union Minister of State and BJP state president Vijay Sampla will inaugurate the flight at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar.

The flight was announced by Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha in November 2016.

The Air India’s direct non-stop flight between Amritsar and Birmingham will fly twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday and return from Birmingham on Wednesday and Friday.

This flight will take off from the city at 13:55 IST and land at Birmingham Airport by 17:15 BST and will depart from Birmingham Airport at 18:45 BST and land at SGRD Amritsar Airport by 07:45 IST.

MP Malik said, “Depending on the success, the flight will later be rescheduled on daily basis and will be extended to Toronto, Canada.”

The Air India’s direct flight between Amritsar and Birmingham will not only fulfill the needs of the ethnic community to fly direct to the holy city but also help in developing better tourism.
