Lok Sabha MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla met Vishwesh Chaube, General Manager, Northern Railways, at the Indian Railways headquarters on Wedesday.
Aujla carried out inspections of the Amritsar railway station last week. He submitted a report of his findings along with solutions for betterment of the rail services.
Aujla demanded for change in rules for the contractors taking up the cleanliness work, and also sought replacement of all the pantry cars, which are beyond repair. He also demanded more AC coaches for the Amritsar-Chandigarh train along with medical facility in the long distance trains.
He stated his prime focus was on Sachkhand Express, so he asked the GM to give this train a complete overhaul, replacement of coaches and pantry along with increase in its frequency.
The GM issued an immediate order to the technical team in this regard. About long unscheduled halts of trains on the outskirts of Amritsar, the GM agreed to find a solution on the lines of the New Delhi station, which quite efficiently manages incoming and outgoing trains.— TNS
