A team of the local CIA staff arrested a person and seized 1 kg of heroin in Bhuse village on Thursday.
SP (Investigations) Tilak Raj said the CIA staff, under the supervision of DSP (Investigations) Ashwani Kumar had installed a naka (checkpoint) near Busse village where Baljinder Singh Happy of Ladhewal (Gharinda) was arrested with 1 kg of heroin. The SP said the recovered consignment was worth Rs 5 crore in the international market.
A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them at the Sarai Amanat Khan police station, the SP said. The accused is already facing a murder case and he was out of prison on bail.
Meanwhile, a Special Task Force (STF) team nabbed a person with 260 gm of heroin along with a Pakistani SIM card at the local bus stand on Friday. STF DSP Kirpal Singh said a team arrested Kuldeep Singh of Bhai Ladhu village near the local bus stand and seized drugs. He was also found possessing a mobile phone with a Pakistani SIM. The accused has been booked under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act, the DSP added.
