Ludhiana, January 25
Special task force (STF) of Ludhiana has nabbed a man and his woman friend with 560-gram heroin.
The suspects have been identified as Amitpreet Singh Robby (31) of Ditupur Jatta village in Patiala, and his 37-year-old friend, who is a resident of NRI Colony, Doraha.
Inspector Harbans Singh said they got a tip-off that the duo was already facing several cases of drug smuggling and they were on the way to supply drugs to their clients. A team of the STF set up a naka and signalled the duo to stop.
The police found a packet containing heroin and a digital weighing machine from the car.
During preliminary questioning, Robby said he had been into drug smuggling for years and he himself was a drug addict. The woman said she was also a drug addict and she, along with Robby, lived in rented accommodation at Doraha.
Harbans Singh said they would seek police remand of the accused for their further interrogation.
