Karnal, November 8
On his maiden visit to his Assembly constituency after assuming power, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today made public his tough stand against corruption.

He held his first 'janata darbar' at Canal Rest House in Karnal as the CM to redress grievances of people of his constituency. He directed officials to install a CM window at the Mini Secretariat and urged people to mention their mobile numbers on their complaints so that they could be informed through SMSes or over phone about the action taken.

Expressing zero tolerance for corruption, Khattar directed officials to complete public works on priority and solve people's grievances at the earliest. He said: "Forget what happened in the past. Adopt the new system to work with honesty. Change your attitude and complete development work in time."

He said the projects that would be put on fast track include Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, shifting of the bus stand and the vegetable market, and renovation of Karan Tal Park. Khattar said: "I am open to new ideas. Never hesitate in approaching me with fresh ideas of development. I think like an ordinary person and my only request to you (district officials) is that work with honesty and say no to corruption."

He also asked all officials to make the cleanliness drive a success in the state. During his visit to the historic Karan Tal Park, situated in the heart of the city and named after Raja Karan, the Chief Minister directed officials concerned to restore its beauty. He said it would be developed as a world-class tourist centre. Khattar paid obeisance at several religious places in the city.
