Srinagar, November 5
As outrage over killing of two civilians in Budgam district intensified on Wednesday, the Army decided to replace the company of 53 Rashtriya Rifles that is accused of opening the fire with another unit. The Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a report from the state government on youths’ killing.

The decision to replace the company comprising over 120 Armymen was taken by the General Officer Commanding, 15 Corps, Lt Gen Subrata Saha after preliminary investigations and interaction with family members of those injured in the firing.

"In addition to the speedy probe that is already in progress to look into the circumstances that led to the Chattergam incident, we have decided to make some changes in the deployment of 53 RR. The company operating at Chhatergam will be replaced by another unit,” said Lt Gen Saha.
