Digital disorder
Armaan Malik may have been born in the digital era, but this former Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champ does not think much of the concept of free music which led to the death of CD culture
While the 'Oh! so glorious' era of album culture (that once dominated
the music scene of India) seems to be dying a torturous death in the era
of digital download, the debate about free music is not the only issue
that concerns the musicians today. Having released a single,
titled, Leja Zakham Tere, from his debut album called Armaan, the
Bollywood and Indie pop singer, Armaan Malik, 19, talks about the changing
music trends. Armaan, who rose to fame
with the music-based television show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs,
begins, "I owe my music career to the show as it gave me much
recognition. But, the fame that music-based reality shows offer is
perishable and one has to work hard to be able to carve a niche in
music."
