Nawaz to chair special meet

Islamabad, October 8
The Pakistani Government has decided to convene a meeting of its National Security Committee (NSC) in the wake of the ongoing border firing. The meeting would be chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif tomorrow.

Along with the top military leadership, the PM’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Pervez Rashid will attend the meeting. “The military leadership will brief the committee on the latest situation and a joint strategy would be adopted,” said sources.

The Chenab Rangers on Wednesday said three persons were killed and four others injured in Sialkot as a result of firing by Indian troops along the border. In Chaprar sector, two persons - Ghulam Hussain and Asif - lost their lives while another man Shabbir was wounded in the incident. In Charwa sector, a man injured in the shelling succumbed to his injuries, said officials.
