RBI governor emphasizes on financial inclusions to reduce corruption
Mumbai, Aug 14 (ANI): RBI Chief, Raghuram Rajan, vouched for financial inclusion of the poor, in a bid to reduce corruption and boost the developing economy. Speaking at an Independence Day Literature event in Mumbai, Rajan said that India’s economy has improved substantially since Independence, but it still lags behind some other countries, such as South Korea, which got their independence even later. He added that direct cash transfers to the poor would help breaking the cycle of dependency.



PM Modi was articulating India's core concerns with Pakistan: Syed Akbaruddin
New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin has stated that some of the worst militant attacks in India owe their genesis to areas which are under Pakistan’s control. Akbaruddin was reacting on statement of Pakistan's foreign office, spokesperson Tasnim Aslam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had accused Pakistan on Tuesday of waging a "proxy war" by sending militants to attack India and he used a trip to the disputed Kashmir region to stress that reconciliation between the nuclear-armed neighbours needs peace.



India under tight security blanket ahead of Independence Day
Srinagar /Imphal /Agartala, Aug 14 (ANI): Security has been beefed up across India on Thursday as thousands of police and paramilitary personnel kept a hawk-eyed vigil to thwart any possible threats ahead of Independence Day. Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed at the airport, market places, railway stations, inter-state bus terminals and metro stations in major Indian cities. Parking lots in the Delhi Metro stations have been closed from today till the next afternoon due to security measures. Tight security blanket has also been thrown in Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir as armed paramilitary personnel and police guard stand outside the Bakshi Stadium, the main venue of the Independence Day function.



Pakistan Independence Day celebrations at Pakistan High Commission
New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations, Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit said that his country is committed to having normal relations with India on the basis of mutual respect.



Three killed in militant attack in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 14 (ANI): A police vehicle was ambushed in Galendar area of Pampore in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, which claimed three lives on Wednesday evening. A civilian and two policemen were killed after militants attacked police vehicle at Galendar area on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
