India celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr Lucknow/ Srinagar/ Jammu/ New Delhi/ Saharanpur, July 29 (ANI): Muslims across India offered Eid prayers on Tuesday after clerics sight the moon at the end of holy month of Ramadan the previous night. Muslim Cleric Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali had confirmed that Muslims would pray for peace and harmony in the country as well as in Palestine on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In Srinagar, Muslims offered morning prayers at a mosque and celebrated the festival, praying for peace and brotherhood. In Jammu too, people in large numbers arrived at a mosque as the Ramadan month culminates in Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. Meanwhile, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also offered prayers at Delhi’s Jama Masjid and wished everyone Happy
Eid.
HSGPC members seek blessings at Golden temple Amritsar, July 29 (ANI): HSGPC newly elected President Jagdish Singh Jhinda along with 34 members of the committee visited holy Sikh Shrine, the Golden temple in Amritsar to seek blessings before taking up charge. The state government in Haryana, on July 11, passed a bill in the state assembly to create an independent committee to monitor Sikh temples, or gurdwaras, in the state. The Haryana Sikh Gurdwaras (Management) Bill, 2014, got the assent of the Haryana governor on Monday. The bill, introduced on the first day of the monsoon session of Haryana legislature, was opposed by Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP).
SP government orders CBI probe in Mohanlalganj rape case Lucknow, July 29 (ANI): The state government-led by Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh agreed to demands of the family of the Mohanlalganj rape & murder victim and ordered a CBI probe in the same. Family of the woman began a fast unto death protest on Sunday demanding a CBI probe into the incident citing dissatisfaction with police report. The police had said that there were no traces of rape before murder and only one person was involved in the crime. SP leader Naresh Agarwal said they had written to CBI to conduct an inquiry. However, family of the victim, who said they will not end the hunger strike till all their demands were met, said that no government official has visited them to inform them about the development in the case.
Workshop in Bangalore to sensitize police on sexual abuse cases Bangalore, July 29 (ANI): Civil society and the police organized a seminar recently to spread awareness on child abuse matters and new legal provisions among police officials in Bangalore. Bangalore Police Commissioner, M N Reddi, stressed upon upgrading the awareness and knowledge among police officers about POCSO. The city of Bangalore and the issue of child safety featured in news when a student of first grade, in one of the city's schools was assaulted by the skating instructor on July 02 who was arrested on July 20. Senior Manager of World Vision, Wesley said they were working with the government to resolve the issue of child protection.
Radio controlled car racing gearing popularity in Tamil Nadu Coimbatore, July 29 (ANI): Radio controlled car racing, which is quite common across other Asian countries, is also gearing up popularity in Tamil Nadu. The first, popularly known as RC (radio controlled) national racing car event, was organized by Radio Controlled Car Association along with Kovai Modelers club at the racing club in Coimbatore. One of the winners of the Radio Control car race, Murali Kannadasan, said that these are unusual cars which runs on methanol and jump through different tracks. Radio car racing is very popular in China, Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan. Event organizer, Raj Kumar, said that the race is popular in many other countries except India, where there is a dearth of racing tracks.
