Srinagar, June 28
On his maiden visit to Jammu and Kashmir since he took over as the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has a packed itinerary, including a review of the security situation.

During his day-long visit scheduled for July 4, the PM would also inaugurate the Udhampur-Katra rail link in the Jammu region and the Uri-II power project in north Kashmir, close to the Line of Control (LoC).

This would be his first security review meeting with senior security officers since he took over as the Prime Minister on May 26. Army officers who will attend the security review meeting include the GOC-in-C of the Northern Command and GOCs of the Army’s 15, 16 and 9 Corps, Director General of the J&K Police K Rajendra Kumar and other senior officers. The Prime Minister would also meet J&K Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The Prime Minister is likely to announce a package for the return of migrant Kashmiri Pandits, say sources.

Defence Minister Arun Jaitley was the first minister in the Modi government to visit Jammu and Kashmir on June 14.
