At least 12 killed in blast at GAIL pipeline in Andhra Pradesh Andhra Pradesh, June 27 (ANI): At least 12 people were killed and 18 others injured after an explosion at a gas pipeline at the site of the state-owned Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) in Andhra Pradesh. The blast took place at 5:30 AM due to a gas leak in a pipeline near a refinery at Nagaram, around 560 km from Hyderabad. A massive fire broke out after the blast. Eight fire engines were rushed to the spot and the fire has been brought under control, officials said. The gas supply line has been cut off. Meanwhile, Prime Minister expressed condolences and tweeted, “My thoughts with the families of those who lost their lives in the GAIL Pipeline fire in AP. Prayers with the injured.”
He also said, “I have spoken to the Petroleum Minister, Cabinet Secretary & GAIL Chairman and asked them to ensure immediate relief at the accident site.”According to official sources, those who suffered burns are being shifted to Amalapuram and Kakinada hospitals. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered an inquiry.
UGC rejects DU's proposal, asks it to begin admissions today New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): The UGC on Friday rejected the Delhi University's proposal to amend the four-year undergraduate programme. It has directed the varsity to revert to its 3-year course and start the admissions on Friday itself. The UGC’s directive comes a day after the DU sent an alternative proposal to restore the FYUP with a few amendments in it, as a way to end the deadlock. Thousands of students and their parents from all over India and abroad are bearing the brunt due to the prevailing confusion over the admission process in

Delhi University rolls back FYUP, politicos react New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): Political leaders on Friday welcomed the Delhi University’s decision to scrap the four-year programme to go back to the earlier three-year programme. The decision was taken at a meeting of principals of colleges affiliated to the DU that was held at the Indraprastha college. According to reports, the Delhi University has written to the UGC, saying it will start admissions under the three-year programme shortly. The standoff between the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Delhi University had resulted in an inordinate delay in the admission procedure.
Amarnath Yatra: Pahalgam route closed due to heavy snowfall, pilgrims left with only Baltal route Srinagar, June 27 (ANI): With only a day left for Hindu pilgrimage of Amarnath Yatra to commence, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir closed one of the routes in Pahalgam due to heavy snowfall. The pilgrims are now left with only one route, that is, through the Baltal base camp route. Addressing a news conference in Srinagar, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), RK Gupta said Pahalgam route will remain closed for first three days. Thousands of pilgrims undertake this journey to the shrine cave to worship an ice stalagmite called Shivlinga, believed to be the symbol of Lord Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction and regeneration. The cave containing the holy Shiva shrine is located at a snow-capped mountainous peak of the Himalayas, 290 kilometres northwest of the Poonch district in Kashmir. Gupta added that pilgrims were briefed about the journey and hoped for their safety and security.
Lakshmikant Sharma & others sent to judicial custody over Vyapam scam Bhopal, June 27 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Former minister was sent to jail over alleged involvement in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, in which many government employees are under scanner for getting selected through unfair means. Special Task Force (STF) constituted for an investigation into MPPEB scam, or Vyapam scam, detained Laxmikant Sharma, former state technical education minister, for interrogation. STF inspector, Indresh Tripathi, said total 15 people have been sent to judicial custody. India's Congress party had accused leaders of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of being involved in the scam. Congress party spokesperson, KK Mishra, had demanded a CBI probe in the nexus among middlemen, politicians, bureaucrats and education mafia.
