Summons for Sonia, Rahul in National Herald case
Legal Correspondent

New Delhi, June 26
A Delhi court today issued summons to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi in a case alleging misappropriation of funds of the National Herald newspaper, which closed down in 2008.

Asking them to appear before the court on August 7, Metropolitan Magistrate Gomati Manocha said there was prima facie evidence against all the accused, including Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes and Motilal Vora.

The court also summoned Sam Pitroda, who has been adviser to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on infrastructure and innovation, and former journalist Suman Dubey, who was close to the Gandhi family.

The case against them was filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy. According to Swamy, the alleged fraud amounts to Rs 2,000 crore. National Herald was established in 1938 by the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
