Youth in Tripura make use of bamboo to be self-employed Tripura, June 07 (ANI): A group of unemployed youth launched Bamboo Enterprises United (BENU), a handicraft workshop and community facility centre, in Katlamara village in 2004. The aim was to be self employed by utilising the locally available Kanakaich variety of bamboo. The village was once a hotbed for militants and lacked proper employment and business opportunities for the youth. These young entrepreneurs provided training to rural artisans to create various bamboo items, including furniture. More than 100 people are currently engaged with the project and supply bamboo products in the country and abroad.
Naga girl forays into wellness industry in North India Chandigarh, June 07 (ANI): Hailing from Dimapur in Nagaland, Ating Newmai runs Seven Sister Spa and training academy in Panchkula near Chandigarh. She plans to open more such facilities in the Northeast and expand her business in the growing wellness sector. Ating came to Chandigarh after completing a course in beauty from an institute in Noida. She worked at many reputed spas before opening her own facility. Working in Haryana, she has never faced any discrimination and has been receiving a good response from her customers.
