Dharamsala, May 31
BJP MP from Hamirpur and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) president Anurag Thakur today appeared before the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in Dharamsala.

He was summoned by vigilance officials in the cases registered against the HPCA for alleged encroachment on government land while constructing the international cricket stadium and construction of Pavillion Hotel on the land leased out to the HPCA for construction of a sports hostel. Anurag arrived at the vigilance office in the old Mini Secretariat building around 9 am. He left after being questioned for around 45 minutes.

Anurag was summoned to appear before the bureau officials on June 2, but since the MP said he would not be able to come on the day, the vigilance allowed him to appear today. About alleged encroachment on around 720 sq metre government land, Anurag maintained that the HPCA had acquired lesser land than it was allotted by the Himachal Government. He said the HPCA was allotted 49,118 sq metre to construct the international cricket stadium, but the HPCA had utilised 45,000 sq metre. Anurag was also questioned on trees allegedly felled by the HPCA during the construction of Pavillion Hotel.
