Bikramjit murder: Six cops sacked

Amritsar, May 17
The Batala police today dismissed six policemen — three assistant sub inspectors and three head constables — allegedly involved in the kidnap and murder of a jail inmate, Bikramjit Singh.

The victim, a murder convict, was kidnapped from Guru Nanak Dev Hospital where he was admitted owing to some orthopaedic problem on May 10. He was allegedly tortured to death by a counter intelligence police team. The city police had booked 13 persons, including 12 policemen, in the case.

Those dismissed are ASIs Sawinder Singh, Gulshanbir Singh and Baljit Singh and head constables Gupreet Singh, Jagjit Singh and Gurpreet Singh.
