Poonch again: Pak troops fire at 4 posts
Darshan Bharti

Poonch, May 11
Ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) continued on Sunday, with firing reported on four Indian posts in Poonch district’s Krishna Ghati sector.

The firing reportedly began at 12.15am and continued upto 5am. Pakistani soldiers targeted the four posts with small and medium weapons. The Indian troops retaliated. No loss of life or injury was reported.

The incident happened within 24 hours of a foiled infiltration attempt along the LoC in Poonch district’s in Kalsian area. Two dreaded militants were killed and an equal number wounded in yesterday’s gunbattle.

Indian soldiers are keeping a close watch on the LoC in Poonch. Repeated ceasefire violations, firing on forward posts and sniper-fire have been reported in the Poonch-Rajouri sector in the past few weeks.

Army and Intelligence officials allege Pakistani troops fire along the LoC to give cover to armed guerrillas trying to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan.
