LS Polls: Politicos target Modi 
Lucknow/Kanpur/Birbhum, April 27:
Politicians criticised BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for his "communal image" and for becoming bigger than his party. BSP chief Mayawati hit out at Modi for Gujarat riots that took place under his rule in 2002. CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury took a dig at Modi’s Tsunami wave remark. SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said after the declaration of the ongoing general election results, BJP leaders would go against Modi.



Only Congress can work towards development: PM 
Hyderabad, April 27:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said to the people of Andhra Pradesh that only the ruling Congress party could ensure consistent development to the state, soon to be bifurcated to form new states of Telangana and Seemandhra. Telangana would officially come into existence on June 2. Singh also launched attack on BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi stating he could never fulfill his promises.



Re-polling at some booths in Maharshtra, West Bengal, Assam
Mumbai, April 27:
Re-polling is taking place in four areas of Maharashtra today, out of which three fall in Mumbai and one in Ahmednagar. The re-poll is taking place because of some technical problems occurred on the scheduled poll day. BJP leader Ram Naik expressed his concerns regarding re-poll. Another BJP leader Gopal Shetty apologised to the public for the inconvenience caused at the cost of officials' flaws. Re-polling is taking place in Assam and West Bengal also. The EC has also ordered re-polling at 12 booths in Karnataka, six in Uttar Pradesh and one in Rajasthan.



Justice RM Lodha sworn in as the 41st CJI
New Delhi, April 27:
Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha was today sworn in as the Chief Justice of India. He was administered the oath of office by President Pranab Mukherjee. He is the 41st Chief Justice of India. Justice Lodha succeeds Justice P Sathasivam who demitted office on completion of his tenure yesterday. Justice Lodha will preside over the Supreme Court for five months as his term will come to an end on September 27, 2014. Justice Lodha is the senior-most judge after Justice Sathasivam and is also heading a benching monitoring CBI’s probe into the sensitive coal blocks allocation scam. One of his important judgements was on regulating sale of acid to prevent attacks and awarding of compensation to acid attack victims.
