SC recognizes transgenders as ‘third gender’ New Delhi, April 15 (ANI): The Supreme court on Tuesday recognized transgenders as the ‘third gender’. The SC also directed the Centre and state governments to treat them as socially and economically backward classes, and also to provide reservation in jobs and education and provide medical facilities to
transgenders. This is one of the historic judgements by the Supreme Court of India wherein it has tried to bring transgenders at par with the status of the male and the female.

Petitioner Laxmi Narayan Tripathi said that the transgenders are feeling proud to be an Indian as the court has today given all the rights given to others to this community.
Security tightens at Indo-Nepal border for peaceful elections Gorakhpur, April 15 (ANI): India’s Border Security force conducted surprise security check at the Indo-Nepal international border adjoining Gorakhpur following reports of smuggling of arms and ammunition at the time of general elections in the country. The security personnel and dog squads checked the vehicles and luggage crossing over from Nepal, as lack of required equipment and vigil at the border had made it an easy route for smugglers to bring in explosives. The check was conducted to ensure that Polls are carried out peacefully in the country.
