BJP warns Congress of ‘consequences’

New Delhi, April 11
With the Congress turning the “private” life of their PM candidate Narendra Modi into an election issue, the BJP swung into a retaliatory action, warning its rival of “consequences” if the party raked up personal issues. Reacting to the issue of Modi’s marriage, BJP leaders said “development and good governance” were far bigger issues than the private life of a person and the Congress was “stooping so low” because it knew that the elections were going out of its hands.

Senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad cautioned the Congress leaders to be careful because several personal and family matters related to the Nehru-Gandhi family were available in the public domain. “There are several family issues of the Nehru-Gandhi family that we are aware of. Some of these are also recorded in documents,” he said.

Prasad said Modi’s elder brother had already clarified that it was a “child marriage” after which he became a sangh pracharak, a grassroot worker of the RSS. “When his elder brother has already clarified, why is the Congress raking up the issue?” he questioned. Notably, sangh pracharaks are supposed to remain unmarried.
