Haryana will witness single-phase polling on April 10 for all 10 Lok Sabha seats. In Hisar, the clans of the two ‘Lals’ — Devi Lal and Bhajan Lal — are pitted against each other. Dushyant Singh Chautala of the INLD will challenge sitting MP Kuldeep Bishnoi. In adjoining Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Shruti Choudhry, granddaughter of Bansi Lal — a former Chief Minister and Union Defence Minister - will face Dharambir Singh, a man who has contested against Shruti’s grandfather and also her father Surendra Singh. Haryana will see another close battle in Gurgaon where Rao Inderjit Singh — a Union Minister in the UPA government who switched sides to be with the BJP - is locking horns with AAP’s Yogendra Yadav, Congress’ Rao Dharampal and INLD’s Zakir Hussain. In Rohtak, CM Hooda’s son Deepender is being challenged by BJP-HJC candidate Om Prakash Dhankar. In Sirsa, Congress’ Ashok Tanwar faces stiff challenge from the INLD candidate who is backed by the Akalis. Also in the fray are the AAP and BJP-HJC combine candidates.

For the lone Chandigarh seat, sitting Congress MP and former Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal is pitted against three women - Kirron Kher (BJP), Gulkirat Kaur Panag (AAP) and Jannat Jahan (BSP).

The Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha segment is witnessing a straight fight between Congress’ Madan Lal Sharma and BJP’s Jugal Kishore Sharma.

The AAP has added a third dimension to the straight Congress-versus-BJP fight in Delhi which has seven Lok Sabha seats. An estimated 1.27 crore voters will decide the fate of 150 candidates, including Union Minister Kapil Sibal who is pitted against BJP state president Harsh Vardhan (Chandni Chowk). Rajmohan Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson is trying his luck on the AAP ticket for the East Delhi seat. Also in the fray are former Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken (New Delhi) who is pitted against BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi.

Ten of the 80 constituencies in politically significant Uttar Pradesh will go to the polls on Thursday. These include communally-sensitive and riot-hit Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Kairana, Aligarh, Bijnor, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautambudh Nagar and Bulandshahar. With Narendra Modi aide Amit Shah's controversial "revenge" remarks in Muzaffarnagar having revived secularism-versus-communalism debate, polling in these 10 constituencies will be viewed with keen interest.

In Ghaziabad, former Army Chief General VK Singh faces Raj Babbar of the Congress and Shazia Ilmi of the AAP. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh (Baghpat), actresses Nagma (Meerut) and Jaya Prada (Bijnore) are also in the fray.

Voting will also be held in all 20 constituencies of Kerala, Maharashtra (10), Bihar (6), Jharkhand (5), Madhya Pradesh (9) and Goa Lakshwadeep islands and Andaman Nicobar islands (one seat each).
