Modi visits Vaishno Devi ahead of rally in J&K Katra , March 26 (ANI): BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi reached the famed Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra and to seek blessings of the Goddess ahead of his rally in Jammu and Kashmir. Modi will be addressing a rally in Hiranagar town of the Kathua district, a few kilometres from Indo-Pak border.
Cricket associations respect SC’s decision on BCCI President Mumbai / Visakhapatnam, Mar 26 (ANI): Cricket associations of different states have said that they respect the Supreme Court’s direction on BCCI chief N. Srinivasan and hope that he will take an appropriate step. The top court asked him to step down to ensure a fair probe in a betting case during last year's Indian Premier League (IPL), in which his son-in-law has been indicted. Commenting on the issue, the president of Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association, D. V. Subba Rao, said Srinivasan will take court’s decision in right spirit and act accordingly. Meanwhile, former chairman of IPL, Rajiv Shukla, refused to comment on the issue.
Muzaffarnagar riots: SC says UP government failed to protect rights of people New Delhi, Mar 26 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday said the Uttar Pradesh government had failed to protect the fundamental rights of people in Muzaffarnagar, where nearly 60 people were killed in riots last year. The court also said that there is no need for a CBI or a court-monitored probe into the Muzaffarnagar riots "at this juncture". The apex court also pulled up the Central and State intelligence agencies for not alerting the Uttar Pradesh government on the impending riots.
