4 get life term in Shakti Mills gang-rape case

Mumbai, March 21
Four men accused in a gang-rape incident at the Shakti Mills compound in central Mumbai last year have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Principal Sessions Judge Shalini Phansalkar Joshi pronounced the sentence on Vijay Jadhav (19), Salim Ansari (27), Kasim Shaikh alias Kasim Bangali (20) and Ashfaque Shaikh (22) who were found guilty of raping a 19-year-old telephone operator on July 31 last year.

The first three along with Siraj Khan are also accused of raping a photo-journalist who was on assignment at the Shakti Mills compound on August 23 last year. The court will sentence those connected with the second assault on March 24.
