Ludhiana judge, son killed in car crash Ludhiana, March 10 Her husband was driving the car. She was sitting on the adjoining seat with her son on her lap. When the car reached near Phillaur, it hit a gas tanker. The injured were taken to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital here where she was declared brought dead. Her son succumbed to his injuries an hour later. Their post-mortem examination was conducted at the local civil hospital. Sukhbir’s husband Harpreet Singh was discharged from the hospital after a few hours. Prior to her joining as a Judicial Magistrate on August 4, 2012, she was a lecturer at Lovely Institute of Law, Jalandhar. This was her first posting to the city. The body was taken to Amritsar for cremation that took place in the evening at a cremation ground near Shree Durgiana Temple, Amritsar. A large number of judicial officers, including Sessions Judge Ludhiana KS Kang, Sessions Judge Amritsar Gurbir Singh, District Bar Association Ludhiana vice-president Gurdeep Singh Salh, secretary Rustam Pal Singh, attended the cremation. Justice SP Bangarh (retd), Judicial Academy Chandigarh’s Director GS Matharoo and vice-chairman of Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana Parupkar Singh Ghumman have expressed shock over the death. The Phillaur police has registered a case under Sections 379, 427 of the IPC against Satish Kumar of Himachal Pradesh, the driver of the gas tanker. He has been arrested by the police.
