BJP tried to buy me off: AAP MLA
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, February 3
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fears that the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley are allegedly trying to topple the Kejriwal-led government.

Madan Lal, AAP MLA from Kasturba Nagar assembly constituency, alleged today that these two senior BJP leaders were behind moves to lure MLAs to split the ruling party. Lal alleged that a person reportedly close to Modi had offered him Rs 20 crore to ensure a split in the party. He promised to make him chief minister if he could do so. “Two persons met me around 10-12 day ago. One of them told me that his name is Sanjoy Singh and that he has come from Gujarat. He said he is close to Narendra Modi. Singh said that Modiji wanted me to get the support of around 10 (AAP) MLAs,” he said without producing any proof to substantiate the allegations.

The MLA alleged that the person told him that if he succeeded in getting 10 MLAs to quit AAP, he would be made CM and his Cabinet ministers would be paid Rs 10 crore each. Lal also claimed that on the December 7 midnight, he received a call from an unidentified person, saying a prominent leader wanted to talk to him. “When I asked him to reveal the person’s identity, he named Arun Jaitley. Hearing Jaitley’s name, I disconnected the call,” he said. In a tweet, Jaitley rubbished the allegations.
