Legal Correspondent

New Delhi, January 27
The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to BJP MP Anurag Thakur and his brother Arun Dhumal who had accused Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his family members of having taken interest-free loan from Tarini Group of Companies.

The High Court sent the notice on a defamation suit filed against them by Vakamulla Chandrashekhar, CEO of the corporate group, seeking a compensation of Rs 3 crore for damaging the companies’ reputation.

In his suit, Chandrashekhar contended that the malicious campaign against his group had brought down the value its shares. The group’s foreign clients were also seeking clarifications.

He said the two had illegally accessed the group’s bank accounts and procured the income tax returns. The two have been asked to file their response by February 7.
