Freezing cold wave enveloping north India troubles homeless poor
Himachal Pradesh/ New Delhi, January 14 (ANI): Enduring cold wave enveloping
North India with icy winds sweeping through most parts and mercury plummeting by several notches has brought more trouble for the homeless living
in the streets. Homeless living on streets of New Delhi say the harsh cold wave conditions have added to their troubles as the state government has
failed to provide alternatives to fight the chill.
J&K: Three terrorists killed in Sopore encounter
Sopore, January 14 (ANI): Security forces in Jammu & Kashmir killed three terrorists during an encounter in Sopore district. The police and the Army launched a joint action to search the militants after they got information from intelligence about the militant hideout. The gun-battle, which began around 2.00 pm in the Dangerpora area of
the district, lasted three hours. The Kashmir region has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades.
No deal with US on bringing back Dawood Ibrahim: RK Singh
New Delhi, January 14 (ANI): Former Union home secretary RK Singh refuted claims of
home minister Sushilkumar Shinde that the US intelligence agency had offered help to arrest most wanted
gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Shinde had said India had been in touch with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to bring back
the underworld don and 1993 Mumbai serial blasts accused that killed at least 250
persons. Singh, who served under Shinde and recently retired, said it was a ridiculous claim. Congress leader Saifuddin Soz said Singh’s comment was unfortunate.
