AAP govt wins trust vote

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi party government today won the confidence vote in the Delhi Assembly with the outside support of the Congress, Janata Dal (United) and an Independent MLA.

In the 70-member Assembly, AAP bagged 37 votes with seven MLAs of the Congress (eighth being the pro-tem Speaker who did not vote), one of the JD (U) and Independent Rambir Shaukeen against 31 of the BJP and one of the Shiromani Akali Dal.

The confidence motion, moved by Public Works Department Minister Manish Sisodia, was discussed in the Assembly for 192 minutes.

Speaking during the debate on the trust motion, Chief Minister Kejriwal elaborated on 17 points - abolition of VIP culture, Janlokpal Bill to include strict provisions and citizen charter, full statehood for Delhi, abolition of contract system in jobs, opposition to FDI in retail, women security, expenditure of government money in the area to be decided by common man, auditing of accounts of power distribution companies, inquiry of electric meters, potable water for all residents of Delhi, providing basic amenities in unauthorised colonies, rehabilitation of slum dwellers, formulation of policies for traders, farmers, good education, improvement of government hospitals and judicial system.

He said those who agreed to work on these points for betterment of residents of the Capital should support the government.
