Three arrested for assault on student in Oz Melbourne, December 31 The arrests in this case of robbery and serious assault were made from the northern suburbs of the city. The 16-year-old boy who is charged with serious assault on Manrajwinder was arrested from a train station. The offender was recognised by officers of the protective services after CCTV footage of the incident — with photos of possible offenders having African appearance — was released to the media. He has been charged with serious assault and was remanded in custody. A 17-year-old boy from Sydenham has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury, robbery and theft. He appeared in an out-of-session court and was ordered to appear at the children’s court on January 2. Another boy of 15 years from Ascotvale suburb is expected to be charged with assault-related offences. According to a Fairfax report, the police are searching for five persons who are believed to have been involved in the attack. Manrajwinder Singh, a 20-year-old student from Nangal Kalan village near Mahilpur of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, is still in the ICU. Admitted to Alfred Hospital, he is stable and responding to medicine. Meanwhile, family members of the victim have urged Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to ensure proper medical care to Manrajwinder in Australia.
