Gurgaon, December 22
After waiting for three days for the body of martyr Subedar Kanwar Pal Singh, the villagers of Bhondsi came on the roads today and blocked the Alwar-Gurgaon highway. They were protesting against the alleged apathy of the local administration and the government.

A Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army, Kanwar Pal Singh was killed in the militia attack in South Sudan on Thursday.

The family members and villagers, who are beaming with pride over the martyr, are angry over the fact that no official or minister has sent in condolences.

The boys of the village blocked the highway sending the administration into a tizzy. Later, DC Shekhar Vidyarthi reached the spot and gave an assurance that the body would reach the village latest by Monday.

“We are shocked. While the entire country is talking about the sacrifice of Kanwar Pal Singh, no representative of the Gurgaon administration or the Haryana Government has cared to call us, leave aside coming here. We have been asking everybody to help us get his body for the last rites, but of no use,” said Kanwar Pal Singh’s brother Raghav.

“I don’t want anything, but just the body of my son so that I can bid him a proper farewell. We have been waiting for the past three days,” said Kanwar Singh’s father.
