Patiala, December 20
The Punjab Government today released Lal Singh from the Nabha jail against his pending parole this evening. He was among the six detainees lodged in prisons for whom Sikh activist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa had been on fast-unto-death since November 14 seeking their release. The time period of his parole could not be ascertained.

Sources in the jail department said Lal Singh’s application for parole had been pending with the jail department. He had been granted parole earlier too.

“Such cases usually go to the jail department and it is within their jurisdiction to take a decision on their release from jail. Lal Singh was released this evening against his pending parole,” said Punjab Principal Secretary Home DS Bains.

Lal Singh later visited Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali where he met Gurbaksh Singh.
