Lt Gen Brar’s attackers get 10 to 14 years in jail
A British court has sentenced four Sikh extremists to a total of 49 years and six months in prison for carrying out a revenge attack on Lt General Kuldip Singh Brar (retd), who led the 1984 Operation Bluestar. Dilbag Singh (37) of London and Mandeep Singh Sandhu (34) of Birmingham were sentenced to 14 years each. Harjit Kaur (39), also of London, was sentenced to 11 years, while Barjinder Singh Sangha (34) of Wolverhampton was given 10 years and six months.

‘They got what they deserved’

Terming it as a “heavy sentence”, Lt General KS Brar (retd) said the convicts “got what they deserved”. “It is a very good thing and they have got what they deserved. The United Kingdom has proved that they do not tolerate terrorism; that they are very strict against terrorists; and that they are very strong in their resolve against terrorism,” he told The Tribune over the telephone from Mumbai, when asked for his reaction.
