WTO clinches historic deal at Bali
New Delhi, December 7
Indonesia's minister Gita Wirjawan (R) with WTO DG Roberto Azevedo after the final agreement in Bali on Saturday.  AFPIn a landmark agreement, the World Trade Organisation consisting of 159 member countries reached its first trade deal since its inception in 1995, marking a major victory for India as it was able to get its way on ensuring food security and minimum support price for its farmers.

A 24-year-old bride suffered an acid attack barely hours before her wedding. The incident took place at 8.37 am when the victim, hailing from Barnala, was getting her bridal make-up done from a parlour located in the posh Sarabha Nagar market.

Protest over parole to Sanjay Dutt

Activists of the Republican Party of India today waved black flags and raised slogans condemning the Yerawada Jail administration here for its decision to release actor Sanjay Dutt on parole for a month. Dutt, convicted under the Arms Act for illegal possession of weapons in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case, had made a plea for temporary release from the jail stating his wife Maanyata was unwell.

Drug racket kingpin Behl was Dawood’s aide in ’80s

The Punjab Police today claimed that Delhi-based international drug racket kingpin Dev Behl, who was recently arrested, was an associate of Dawood Ibrahim and his brother Anees in gold smuggling from 1983 to 1988. (Details on Punjab page)

MBBS scam: JK exam board ex-chief sent to 10-day judicial custody
Srinagar, December 7
A special anti-corruption court today remanded former chairman of the state entrance examination panel Mushtaq Ahmad Peer in ten-day judicial custody. Peer is the prime accused in the alleged scam involving the sale of Common Entrance Test (CET)-2012 question papers for selection into medical colleges.
