Tarun TejpalTehelka former Editor-in-Chief Tarun Tejpal today withdrew his anticipatory bail plea from the Delhi High Court in the sexual assault case. His next in command at Tehelka Shoma Chaudhary also resigned as the magazine managing editor rejecting charges of a cover up.

Jagdish Singh Bhola Senior Punjab Police officers behind the international drug smuggling racket bust have sought “more security personnel during field duty” fearing threat to their lives from the arrested drug lords and their ring. The officers include a serving Deputy Superintendent of Police, two inspectors and a sub-inspector.

Booked for rape, ASI shoots self in Ambala
Parov (Ambala), November 28
A Haryana Police assistant sub inspector (ASI) shot himself with his service revolver inside the Parov police station late Wednesday night hours after an FIR was registered against him on charges of rape. ASI Karan Singh was found dead in his room with a gunshot wound on the temple by head constable Shamsher Singh today morning.

SC: Life term is rule, death penalty is exception
New Delhi, November 28
The Supreme Court today held that that “life imprisonment is the rule and death sentence is an exception.” A Bench comprising Justices BS Chauhan and SA Bobde gave the ruling while commuting the extreme penalty awarded to two convicts for kidnapping and beheading a person and looting about Rs 4 lakh in 2005.
