Shinde cautions against threat to internal security in Punjab, J-K
New Delhi, November 21
Threat to internal security, both from existing and emerging situations in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, came into focus today with Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde asking top police officers from across the country to remain alert against infiltration and the misuse of cyberspace to spew “pernicious propaganda”.

Shimla luxury housing project faces forgery case
Shimla, November 21
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau today registered an FIR in a forgery case involving the high-end housing project being executed by Bemloe Development and Infrastructure Company Private Limited at Kanlog. The project was approved during the BJP regime.

Land bought by Bajwa was shamlat deh: Probe
Chandigarh, November 21
The Punjab Government’s inquiry into a land deal by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa in Bharonjian village of Mohali has established that the land bought by him was indeed “shamlat deh”, which cannot be bought or sold as its ownership wrests with the panchayat.

Lifers, convicted of most-heinous crime-murder, are walking free early in Punjab and Haryana. With the Punjab and Haryana governments misusing Governor’s powers of granting remission even before the completion of mandatory 14 years’ imprisonment for life convicts with impunity, at least 65 convicts have been released prematurely by the respective governments.

Coming down heavily on the Uttar Pradesh Government for minority-appeasement, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the state to withdraw its October 26 notification that contained the names of only Muslims for the grant of Rs 5 lakh compensation following the recent Muzaffarnagar riots.
