Crime Branch grills exam board ex-chief

Srinagar, November 20
Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch today summoned and questioned Mushtaq Peer, examining body’s former chairman who is suspected of selling entrance test papers for selection to region’s medical colleges. Mushtaq Peer, former chairman of Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE), was summoned and questioned by the Crime Branch investigators for nearly six hours.

“We had summoned him today and he was questioned. The questioning lasted for nearly the entire day,” said Inspector General of Police (IGP), Crime, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani. The former chairman, who is suspected to have sold exam papers to candidates through a conduit, reached the Crime Branch office in the city here at 11:30 am and his questioning lasted till 5:30 pm. Gilani said Peer would again be summoned for further questioning on Thursday. The Crime Branch is nearing a breakthrough in thescam in which exam papers for selection into medical colleges were allegedly sold by Peer to a conduit.
