India, UK to deepen trade ties, boost investments

New Delhi/Kolkata, November 14
British PM David Cameron shakes hands with Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on ThursdayIndia and the UK have made "extraordinary progress" on trade and investment over the last three years, said British Prime Minister David Cameron, in New Delhi while on his way to attend the CHOGM summit in Colombo, beginning tomorrow. He said the "positive momentum" in ties between the countries should continue.

Punjab announces trade policy, leaves 1.5 lakh traders out of VAT net
Chandigarh, November 14
Punjab today announced its trade policy, which aims at creating an ease of doing business in the state, by reducing government interference to a bare minimum. With the policy’s main emphasis on taxation at the first stage itself, over 1.50 lakh registered Value Added Tax (VAT) dealers across Punjab will no longer be accountable to the taxation department for getting their sale records scrutinised.
