House passes Bill to allow those in jail to contest polls
New Delhi, September 6
Negating a Supreme Court order, Parliament today passed a Bill that maintains the right of those in jail to contest elections, with the government saying the court verdict was wrong and the Legislature has a Constitutional duty to correct it.

Bill passed within 15 minutes

Toll collection on Jalandhar-Delhi highway to be suspended
Chandigarh, September 6
The National Highway Authority of India is all set to suspend toll collection on the Jalandhar-Ambala-Panipat-Delhi highway.

29 Oppn MLAs suspended from Haryana House on Day 1
Told to stay away for remaining session for ‘irresponsible behaviour’
Chandigarh, September 6
Amid acrimonious scenes, 29 Opposition members of the Haryana Assembly were named and suspended for the rest of the session for “irresponsible behaviour” on the opening day today.
