Independence Day: sweets exchanged with Bangladesh
South Dinajpur, August 6 (ANI):
The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel deployed along the frontier of Bangladesh celebrated the 67th Independence Day by exchanging sweets and greetings with their counterparts from Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB). Commandant of the 96th Battalion of the BSF Bal Krishan hoisted the national flag at a ceremonial function on the Indo-Bangladesh border post in South Dinajpur in West Bengal. He termed the occasion as another step in reinforcing the bilateral ties between the two neighbours.



Independence Day not an occasion for duel between PM and Modi: D Raja
New Delhi, Aug 16 (ANI):
After the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh versus Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi speech war on the 67th Independence Day, CPI leader D Raja said today this was not an occasion for such a duel between the PM and CM of a state. He said the speeches should have been enthusiastic for the country.



Goa CM bans dance bars
Panaji, August 16 (ANI):
Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar said he would not permit any dance bars to function in the state. Parrikar said this on the sidelines of the Independence Day celebrations at Panaji yesterday. He said his government had already assured the citizens that a menace such as bars with dancing girls would never be encouraged. Addressing the state level function after hoisting the Tricolour at old secretariat on the occasion of Independence Day, he said the state government had vowed to flush out prostitution and drugs.
