Gurgaon, August 3
The Gurgaon police’s investigation into the death of senior IAS officer Harbaksh Singh has come under the scanner once again. The officer’s mother has demanded a re-inquiry into her son's death which was dubbed as an accident by the police.

A senior IAS official Harbaksh Singh died two months ago after he “slipped from the staircase” of his flat in Sector 15, Gurgaon. He, according to police reports, woke up at around 3 am and was coming down the stairs when he slipped and fell on the ground.

His mother, in a letter addressed to Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal and DGP SN Vashisht, has claimed that she suspected foul play in Harbaksh's death. She alleged that the police had been hasty in arriving at the conclusion of the death being an unfortunate incident while the circumstances in which he died clearly hinted at something fishy.

"Yes, she sent a complaint and met us. She had certain doubts about the death of her son and requested a re-inquiry to rule out any foul play. We have put an ACP on the job who has started the re-investigation," said Commissioner Alok Mittal.

The Gurgaon police is likely to record the statement of the mother of the deceased senior IAS officer and has sent her a notice in Chandigarh, requesting her to visit Gurgaon to register her statement.
