Telangana: Bandh in coastal, southern Andhra Pradesh Vijayawada, July 31 (ANI): A day-long bandh has been called across coastal and southern Andhra Pradesh to protest the decision of Congress party to form separate state of Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh. In coastal and southern regions of the state, government run busses are off the roads; schools and business establishments are also closed.
Police arrest four Maoists in Jharkhand Lohardaga, July 31 (ANI): In a major breakthrough, police in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand on Tuesday nabbed four hardcore Maoists along with country-made weapons and camouflaged vests. Acting on a tip-off police raided a house in the district and arrested the four ultras, who were threatening a local, police official said.
Julian Assange calls for full acquittal for Manning Ecuadorian Embassy, July 31 (ANI): WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has condemned a military court at Fort Meade for finding US soldier Bradley Manning guilty of 19 charges relating to leaking official documents. A military judge on Tuesday found Manning not guilty of aiding the enemy, the most serious charge he faced for handing over documents to WikiLeaks, but he still likely faces a long jail term for the other counts.
