Land for 5-star hotel: 2 HP IAS officers chargesheeted
Pratibha Chauhan/TNS

Shimla, July 26
The government today chargesheeted Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Deepak Sanan and another IAS officer RS Gupta in a case involving land allotment to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) for construction of a high-end luxury hotel at Dharamsala.

The two officers were earlier served show-cause notices by the personnel department. The officers had filed their reply and action against them was pending. While Sanan’s role came under lens as he was Principal Secretary, Revenue, when the land was allotted, Gupta at that point of time was Deputy Commissioner, Kangra.

The two officers allegedly allowed the change of land use for construction of a five-star hotel. It was alleged that common village land had been diverted for a commercial purpose. Moreover, the consent of the Cabinet had not been sought before the allotment and change of land use.

The issue of allotment of land to HPCA for construction of a hotel had figured prominently in the Congress ‘chargesheet” prepared against the BJP government led by PK Dhumal regime.

Sanan is currently serving as ACS, Animal Husbandry, and Gupta is posted as Commissioner, Inquiries. Gupta also remained Principal Private Secretary to Dhumal.
