SC quashes common entrance test for medical college admissions
New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday quashed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admissions into all medical and dental colleges. It ruled that the Medical Council of India cannot conduct a unified examination. The NEET was proposed to decide the process for admissions into all medical and dental courses.



TMC ‘bombshells’ tantamount to unleashing ‘political terrorism’, claims CPI
New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): The CPI on Thursday slammed the Mamata government in West Bengal after a leader of the state ruling TMC courted controversy again by inciting partymen to "attack" independent candidates in the ongoing panchayat elections who had posed threat to the party's official nominees and even to "hurl bomb on policemen".



Maoists strike in Bihar, kill 5 security personnel 
Aurangabad, July 18 (ANI): Five security personnel were killed and seven injured in a gun fight with Maoists in Aurangabad district of Bihar on Wednesday. The Maoists had attacked the base camp of a construction firm and tried to destroy a bridge over river Belaru in Goh police station area of Aurangabad. They also set three dumper trucks on fire.



UP: Akhilesh expands cabinet, Raja Bhaiya left out
Lucknow, July 18 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav expanded his Cabinet on Thursday in Lucknow. With removal of Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya and Raja Ram Pandey from the cabinet earlier, there were in total four seats that were vacant in the cabinet. While Raja Bhaiya resigned after his name cropped up in Kunda Deputy SP Zia-ul-Haq murder case, Mr Pandey was axed after he allegedly made sexist remarks against a woman officer in Sultanpur.



Salman Khan’s ‘Mental’ has a new name?
New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Salman Khan’s much talked about film Mental which is in news right from its inception for some or the other reason is in news yet again due to the name change of the movie. According to a leading daily, Salman and his advisors are considering calling the film ‘Jai Ho’ instead of ‘Mental’. ‘Mental’ which is the remake of South superstar Chiranjeevi`s ‘Stalin’ is expected to hit theaters on 24th January next year. Earlier it had been revealed that Salman was unhappy with the title ‘Mental’ and had been searching for an alternative because the title looked bizarre to him!
