Gurgaon/Panchkula, July 18
The mystery shrouding the death of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg’s wife Geetanjali Garg has deepened further with both post-mortem report and her relatives hinting at planned murder.

The post-mortem conducted today suggested Geetanjali (28) had sustained three bullet wounds. She was shot in the thigh, chest and chin. The medical team also found a wound in the back of the head.

“Nothing can be said as of now. We are sending the samples to the CFSL,” said Dr Hazari Lal, who conducted the post-mortem examination.

Geetanjali was later cremated in Panchkula amid high drama. Heated exchanges were witnessed between her family members and in-laws as the body was being taken for cremation.

The victim’s relatives refused to accept the initial suicide theory of the police and said a CBI inquiry must be conducted to bring out the truth.

“It is a clear case of preplanned murder. When the body was found last night, the police had insisted that it was a case of suicide, but we are certain it is a preplanned murder. We do not directly suspect anyone but the fact that the murderer had easy access to CJM’s official weapon needs to be probed thoroughly,” said Gyan Aggarwal, a victim’s relative.

“My sister was shot thrice, which is unlikely in case of a suicide. My brother-in-law’s revolver was left intentionally at the crime scene to pass it off as a suicide,” said victim’s brother Nitesh.

The victim last spoke to her father around 3 pm yesterday and sounded happy, he claimed. The family will meet Haryana Director General of Police SN Vashisht tomorrow.

The police has constituted a special investigation team to crack the case. “It is too early to make a call. We have formed a team and ballistic experts are carrying out their investigations,” said Police Commissioner Alok Mittal.

Geetanjali was found dead in a park in city’s posh Civil Lines area yesterday. A revolver was found lying next to the body. The CJM later identified the body and the weapon used in the crime as his.

Geetanjali was a resident of Sector 8, Panchkula, and her family owned colleges and factories in Barwala and Baddi. She had moved from Jagadri to Gurgaon two months ago after her husband was promoted as the CJM.
