Weighty issue
It is a different thing when you try and then don't succeed, but it is an altogether different thing when we don't give up on certain things. Forget about establishing a connection between the two; just concentrate on the latter. Out of a whole list of things that you will do no matter what, losing weight will probably be topping the charts! Well, in most cases.
So we bet you have tried everything - cabbage soup, all fruit diet, mother's special prepared flour, running round and round in the same place… just about everything. Some of these methods would have worked while others would have given you momentary joy. In case you haven't given up, take it from here; the new and interesting ways of reducing weight!
Yo Yo dieting: Reducing weight is the biggest challenge and a similar method does not work with everyone. Shares Pallavi
Jasaal, chief nutritionist and diet consultant at LiveLifeMore Diet clinic, Sector-46, Chandigarh, "We take into consideration two basic things while suggesting a diet plan for anyone who wants to lose weight - basal metabolic and physical activity.
Designer destination
Designers from outside the region have been here and done their homework. Here's what they say about the tastes and preferences of people in Chandigarh
We couldn't sustain the Chandigarh Fashion Week, but there's no stopping the weekend exhibitions. The high-end designers are yet to set up shop, but the city crowds come submerged in luxury labels. Half-a-dozen malls might not do be doing great, but increasingly and cautiously we have brands trooping in. At times, markets speak volumes about the culture of the place, its people and their preferences.
Digitally diligent
Last fourteen years and fifteen books, Ankit Fadia sure is on a roll. On Friday, when he was about to launch his latest book in Chandigarh, he got an unexpected call, from…Barack Obama!
Oh well, this fake call was one example on how one can use technology to one's advantage…caught in a sticky situation, get yourself a call with a pre-recorded message and you are a free bird.

Stress buster
Positive change ahead
Hey, are you actually creating stress in your life? Well, you are not the only one. We all need to realise that one way or the other, most of us could be doing just that. And once we have realised this we need to find ways to stop it. We are responsible for the state we are in and we need to change this.
Of course we must accept that many of the stresses we face in life are beyond
our control, but then we must also realise that it is our responses to these
things that have a heavy impact on our stress levels. These responses are
definitely under our control.

Light on pocket, great on taste…
A to and fro journey on road sounds wee incomplete if you don’t have a pit stop at a dhaba. The rickety chairs, the wooden planks working as tables, the clink noise of the steel cutlery and a lot of fresh dust! How nice it would be if someone shifts the entire dhaba feel (without the rickety chairs and wooden planks) to a neater, fresh and clean ambience. Deluxe Dhaba in sector 28 opened almost two years back is a hi-end dhaba promising the signature value for money. There are things that you would like about the place and many that you probably wouldn’t, but for this you need to grab a bite at this place.
The ‘in’ side
Point of conversation
A conversation pit is an architectural feature that incorporates built-in seating into a depressed section of flooring within a larger room. This area often has a table in the center as well. The seats typically face each other in a centrally focused fashion, bringing the occupants closer together than free-standing tables and chairs normally would. Depending on the depth some pits may feature stairs that allow easy access to the seats. In residential design this proximity facilitates comfortable human conversation, dinner parties, and table top games.

The luck shines
Did you get lucky yet? Well if not, then perhaps it’s time you listened to it to get lucky, a song by the French house music duo, Daft Punk, co-written by and featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. It is the lead single from Daft Punk’s fourth studio album Random Access Memories and it has secured the second position on the Billboard top 100.
Before its release as a single, Get Lucky was featured in television advertisements broadcast during the Saturday Night Live, after which Rodgers and Pharrell announced their involvement in the track. Small excerpts also appear throughout the promotional video series The Collaborators. Let us see how the city folks are taking to this song. Musically, Get Lucky is a disco and funk song while lyrically, according to Pharrell Williams, the song is about the fortune of finding chemistry with someone and not just about sexual chemistry.

Paying a price
Singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham struggles to deal with the success she has achieved and admits she finds it hard juggling her family and work life.
The 39-year-old, who has four children with football star David Beckham, admits her career comes at a price as she finds it difficult being a working mother and has to work even harder to maintain her success, reported a website.
"When you are successful, the hardest thing is maintaining that level of success, so you work harder to maintain what you have achieved. It's a huge juggling act, when you are a working mother and looking after your family, millions and millions of women around the world are doing this every day. But it's not easy and yes, you feel guilty every time you walk out of the door to go to work," she said.

Birthday ideas
Supermodel Kate Moss bought her best friend, Sadie Frost, a 25,000 pounds friendship ring for her 48th birthday.
Moss's expensive gift has angered Frost's boyfriend James Gooding, who feels he was upstaged by the lavish present, reported a publication.
"Kate really pushed the boat out for Sadie's 48th birthday. They've been friends for 15 years and Kate wanted to spoil her but Sadie's guy scoffed when he saw the lavish gift. He thinks it's ostentatious and an inappropriate present from one friend to another, especially as it's not even a milestone birthday," a source said. "He thinks the decadent gift is a way to put him in his place and show that Sadie's real bond lies with her friends," it added.

Gwyneth goes skin deep
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow likes to stock up on French cosmetics
Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow says she has turned to French cosmetics to help her retain a youthful glow.
The 40-year-old actress says she is not a fan of the muscle-freezing injections and prefers to use wonder creams and moisturisers from Europe, reported a website. "I don't like Botox. I think on some faces it works, but it's when you can really see it that it starts to look fake. I think people look at tiny patches of their face and try to fix everything - they've lost the plot," she said.
Paltrow makes sure her skin is in top shape by stocking up on products from French pharmacies. "They have amazing burn creams and make-up removers. I love how French actresses age but don't really do anything about it, it's beautiful," she said.
