Petrol price hiked by Rs 1.82 per litre New Delhi/Jaipur/Kolkata, June, 29 (ANI): The price of petrol was raised on Friday by Rs 1.82 a litre, effective midnight, excluding VAT. This is the third increase in petrol price rates in June. The oil firms had from June 15 hiked prices by Rs. 2, excluding VAT; and before that 75 paise from June 1 onwards.
Police gun down eight Maoists in Jharkhand Jharkhand, June 29 (ANI): Security forces gunned down eight Maoists during a prolonged shootout in the jungles near Kumandih in Latehar district of Jharkhand. Superintendent of Police, Latehar, Michael Raj said that five rebels were killed when they opened fire on security personnel in Kumandih region while the other three died during their armed battle with the police in the forests.

Police bust sex racket in Mumbai Mumbai, June 29 (ANI): Police raided a flat in Mumbai and rescued 15 women forced into the flesh business. One culprit was arrested in the case. The Social Service branch carried out the raid with the help of members of Rescue Foundation. It is speculated that one or two girls might be minors but the officials said that they will get a clear picture only after the medical tests are conducted.The police have charged this case under PITA (Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act).
