60 dead due to flash floods in many states Uttarakhand/ Haryana/ Himachal Pradesh/ Maharashtra, June 18 (ANI): The early monsoon rains and swelling of
rivers Ganga and Yamuna has wrecked several states of northern India. Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and several parts of Haryana were flooded, leaving around 60 people dead and thousands others stranded. The Army provided continuous humanitarian aid to thousands of pilgrims
stuck in Uttarakhand in the last 36 hours. The authorities suspended the Char Dham Yatra to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Bihar Bandh turns violent as JD(U) workers clash with BJP Patna, June 18 (ANI): Two days after the split of the BJP and
the JD(U), the BJP observed a bandh across the state today, which got violent,
leaving many injured. The BJP, blamed the JD(U) for the violence. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said this
was BJP's frustration coming out. The BJP refuted the charges and accuses the JD(U) of political hypocrisy.
BJP takes jibe at Nitish for taking secularism certificate from Congress Patna, June 18 (ANI): The BJP on Tuesday slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who said that he
was at peace after the Prime Minister called him a secular leader. BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said after the Ayodhya riots, the JD(U) had shook hands with BJP, who at that time looked secular to them.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had reached out to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish
Kumar yesterday, calling him a secular leader. Nitish Kumar today thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for calling him
"secular".
